  • Develop a marketing plan
    A plan will help you create a strategic framework for thinking and set project guidelines.
  • Know your audience
    Identify your audience and their specific needs
  • Know your goals
    Do you want to strengthen existing ties, convey the quality of your program to prospects, and commemorate important events?
  • Design for action, not decoration
    Good graphic design can be a difference-maker. Your materials do not need to look the same, but they must feel the same. High quality, and professional.
  • The design attracts you; the headline keeps you
    Your headline should provoke both thought and action.
  • Be Brief
    It is far better to say too little than too much.
  • It’s about emotions
    Emotional attachment is twice as important as facts. Connect with your reader by story-telling.
  • The mind best remembers things that are unique and sensory
    Be unique; be individual. Don't just do things because everyone else does.
  • Evaluate results
    Determine if your project was successful—modify it for future if needed.

Rule of Thumb

In a crowded marketplace, just fitting in is failing. In a busy marketplace, not standing out is the same as being invisible.
